This weeks #MondayMotivation post is inspired by a line that was spoken in a Netflix series the Mrs and I have just finished. Afterlife it’s a great little watch, but anyway when this line was spoken I had to stop and rewind it and take it down word for word as it’s pretty profound and deep.
So here it is:
“A society grows great when old men plant trees the shade of which they know they will never sit in”
Deep isn’t it?! It just so happen to be around the time when we had just celebrated VE-Day, so I think it had an even greater impact when it was spoken.
How often do our actions benefit our future kin and that are not for our own personal gain now? Not very often I’d say. It’s hard to comprehend if I’m honest. I can’t say I act for my future kin directly, by planting trees or fighting wars etc, but I do act I hope in a way that helps others and my actions are an example for good.
You know treat people how wish to be treated and lead by example and all that…!
We are currently in our own version of world war with this pandemic and our actions now, are and will definitely effect our future kin. So if we link back to the quote above, we should be compelled and inspired to act as great men, or women and plant the seeds of positive and respectful actions to benefit the future ahead of us. So they can enjoy the freedom and shade our actions have given them.
We need to stop and get out of our own heads sometimes and think of the bigger picture of life. It’s not about being selfish and pleasing ourselves, it’s about doing more for the greater good of us all.
Plant your seeds of selfless acts so others can bask in the shade of your actions and sacrifice.
Have a great week guys.
Stay strong and live, love and laugh!
